Nurture the skills of our youth and they will achieve great things
Seeking Colours Community Project is about creating connection, building confidence and strengthening our community.
We support youth aged 10–18 to discover their strengths, develop practical skills, explore their interests and build confidence in who they are and where they are heading.
At the same time, we support Elderly aged 65+ through practical assistance, companionship and opportunities for meaningful connection.
Through whanaungatanga, kotahitanga, rangatiratanga and tuakana–teina, we aim to bring generations together, create positive opportunities for our rangatahi and ensure our kaumātua feel valued, supported and connected within their community.
Providing free practical support to elderly aged 65+, including gardening, cleaning, grocery shopping, errands, household tasks and companionship.
Providing up to two hours of respite support for kaumātua who are caring for their mokopuna, giving them an opportunity to have some time for themselves while their mokopuna are supported.
After-School Rangatahi Programme
Providing rangatahi aged 10–18 with a safe, supportive and engaging space after school to build confidence, develop practical and life skills, explore their interests, connect with positive role models and take part in meaningful activities within their community.
One-on-one mentoring tailored to each rangatahi, helping them build confidence, identify their strengths, set goals and navigate challenges.
Connecting rangatahi with opportunities in employment, training, further education and career development, helping them explore pathways that align with their interests and aspirations.
Supporting rangatahi to have a voice, express their needs and feel heard, while helping them understand their rights and navigate systems that affect them.
Recognising that rangatahi do not exist in isolation. We work alongside whānau to support positive outcomes and strengthen the wider support network around each young person.
Creating opportunities for rangatahi to take the lead by planning, organising and delivering their own wānanga, activities and community initiatives — allowing them to demonstrate their skills, creativity and leadership.
Supporting rangatahi to navigate important steps towards independence, including obtaining identification and key documentation, applying for driver licences, accessing StudyLink, exploring grants and scholarships, preparing for employment and developing practical life skills.
Creating opportunities for rangatahi to learn from and contribute alongside kaumātua, developing relationships across generations through practical community work, kōrero, shared experiences and giving back.
